You’ve already picked a magical location for your kid’s birthday party: Songbird Karaoke! More planning now awaits you. There’s invitations, balloons, party favors, and of course, FOOD!

Songbird has some great partnerships for catering from some of the most delicious restaurants in Collingswood, but for options for sweet treats, look no further than getting the kids to help make these ideas provided by Foodie Fest Kit, a local kids culinary subscription service.

Getting kids to be active in the kitchen helps them practice

The kitchen is even a great place to learn about science and different cultures too! Try one of these recipes with your junior chef at home, and if you have a positive experience, you might like to try out a Foodie Fest Kit subscription. We serve all different ages and experience levels. Keep reading for the dessert ideas that can be created by kids!

All of the following ideas have been kid tested for ease, minimal mess, and delicious-ness! Grab your junior chef, and prep these sweet treats to bring to your next Songbird soiree!

Sweet Treats 1 = Lazy Cookie Bars

Minimal effort. Minimal ingredients. Maximum taste (for both kids and adults)!

Try this variation – use chocolate cake mix instead of yellow cake mix, add your chocolate chips, some mini marshmallows, and crushed graham crackers to your batter to make more of a s’mores themed brownie type of dessert.
These taste amazing. Kids love stirring everything together plus, cleaning up in your kitchen AND your eating location is a breeze since the prep and the eating make minimal mess.

Sweet Treats 2 = Rainbow Cake

Oooo pretty colors! Kids will love revealing the secret of all the colors baked into this cake!

Red = use red drops
Orange = put some red and yellow drops together
Yellow = use yellow drops
Green = put some blue and yellow drops together
Blue = use blue drops
Purple = put some blue and red drops together

Bonus points if your baking pan has a lid – it’s ready to pack for your party at Songbird! Any leftovers? Pop the lid back on and bring it right back home. Easy peasy.

Sweet Treats 3 = Easy Chocolate Marshmallow Fudge

This is one of the more technical desserts on the list, but definitely a VERY easy way to make fudge! Fudge is great because it can easily cure that sweet craving with just a small piece, and it barely leaves any crumbs, allowing you to get back to the microphone for your next song in a jiffy.

Grab a piece in between songs…no fork or plates or messy clean up required.

Themed Dessert

Having a party with an awesome theme? At Foodie Fest Kit, we specialize in themes – whether it be a seasonal theme, character, animal, or karaoke theme, we want to share ideas with you and help get your kids in the kitchen! For example, for your Songbird party, you could bake cupcakes inside of ice cream cones, frost with chocolate icing, dip into black sugar sprinkles and VOILA! You now have impressive microphone cupcakes!

Which sweet treat to choose? Maybe have your junior chef choose one (or more than one!) from above, but make sure they stick around to help create it! It will be a fun bonding experience, allowing them to create and possibly experiment with new ingredients, tastes, and textures. Pack it up to bring along, share with friends or guests, and have an amazing party singing your heart out at Songbird Karaoke!

In between songs, your child is sure to take pride in their own culinary creation that everyone is enjoying! If the experience was a success, remember that at Foodie Fest Kit, we offer a monthly culinary kit service that’s personalized to your child’s age, food preferences, and hobbies. Each kit includes 3 seasonal kid friendly recipes, ingredients, and an activity booklet.
