Creating the most unforgettable baby shower can be difficult. We’re not saying ALL baby showers are but we’re saying quite a few baby showers are…boring.
You must agree. The eating part we like but the just hanging around and then watching the gift opening can be a tad tiresome.
We want to spice things up a bit. So, we’re throwing out some ideas for cool things to plan at your next baby shower. Now, we’ve done a little research here and some ideas that are out there are just odd.
We don’t know about you but deciding which kind of melted chocolate is in a diaper or determining who can drink the fastest out of a baby bottle, just doesn’t seem that fun.
Here are some great ideas to add some life to that baby shower you’re planning.

- GAMBLING TIME
This one is the most popular but also fun.Have each guest try to guess the date and time of the birth. You can even add weight and length. This is a fun one for the mom-to-be to review while she’s waiting for the big event. You can mail the winner a big prize or just let them know and they can have pride as their prize!
- TIME MACHINE
This one involves a little pre-planning but it is so worth it.Request each guest to bring something that they feel represents this time period. It could be a movie ticket, a newspaper clipping, a coin, a fashion trend, a picture, etc. Ask each guest to present the token to the mom-to-be and explain its relevance. All the items are then saved to be shared with the baby later. They’ll forever have a memory of what life was like the year they were born.
- DIAPER TIME
Diapers are needed! Now, this one only works if the new mommy is using disposable diapers and also requires a little preplanning.The idea is to hold a raffle. The way you get raffle tickets is to bring diapers! For a certain amount of diapers, you get one raffle ticket. More diapers mean more raffle tickets. During the shower, draw a raffle ticket and give the winner a prize (of your choosing that you’ve prepurchased). Now, you’ve made it fun and the new mom has tons of diapers!
- WHO ARE THOSE CUTIES?
This is just a cute idea, which you can turn into a game if you like.Collect about 10-20 pictures of the parents-to-be. Put them around for the guests to admire throughout the party. If you want to turn it into a game, you can have guests guess what age they are in each photo.
- PICTURES ARE WORTH 1,000 GUESSES
Related to the above, but here you get pictures of relatives from each side of the family. Guests can admire and ask who is who or again, you can turn it into a game and have them guess. - ONESIES FOR ALL
Each guest gets to decorate a onesie for the new little one!For this idea, you need a white onesie for each guest. If you have a lot of guests, consider getting a variety of sizes of onesies. You’ll also need a variety of fabric paint, fabric markers, felt, fabric glue, scissors, cute stencils, cute stamps, fabric ink, and whatever other fun materials you’d like to add.
It’s also smart to cut some squares of cardboard to fit into the onesies to make it easier to decorate. Even smarter, put the cardboard in ahead of time to save your guests the trouble.
Also, don’t forget to ask your guests to put their name on their creation so the mom-to-be will know who created each one!
- ALL BABIES ARE CUTE
Aren’t all babies cute? Even little furry ones!Create a list of animals and what their babies are called. Have guests try to pair up which animal goes with which baby name.
- ALL THE ADVICE
Let the mom-to-be get all the advice she needs with this idea.Create small slips of paper with a smiley face on one side and a frowny face on the other side. Give each guest a paper and ask them to write the best good advice they have for the new mommy on the smiley face side. Then ask them to write the worst advice they heard on the frowny side.
If you want you can collect them and read them all aloud.
- NAME THAT BABY
A good name can be important but what is a good name?Look up the most popular boy and girl names (or if you know the sex, just pick that one) and the year they were most popular. Select about 10-20 of the most interesting and have guests try to match the year with the most popular name.
- KARAOKE BABY SHOWER
That’s right! What could be more fun than having a baby shower here! You can do all the things above and sing karaoke and get some good food.
